The Department for Education has published details of the eligibility criteria for the 2025 National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) cohort. Details can be found here.
In summary:
- The NPQ for Headship, Early Headship Coaching Offer (ECHO) and NPQ for SENCOs continue to be fully funded for teachers and leaders employed in publicly funded schools (including maintained nursery schools) and 16-19 educational institutions in England.
- Scholarships for all other NPQs will continue to be based on disadvantage criteria.
- For the first time, schools eligible for targeted Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence (RISE) intervention will also be included in the eligibility criteria.
The registration service, which enables applicants to express their interest with the DfE, will open on 8 September 2025.
