I’m the Recycling Engagement Officer at Groundwork NE and Cumbria, and I’m currently working on a recycling project in partnership with Northumberland County council aimed at improving residents recycling practices.
This project has been running since 2023 in Southeast Northumberland but this year we are looking to extend the project across the whole county ahead of the new recycling scheme coming into effect early 2027. From May to October we are hoping to focus on the north of Northumberland from Alnwick to Berwick with a range of community focused engagement activities aimed at a variety of audiences.
These include recycling workshops and assemblies, presentations/talks about all things recycling and sustainability, setting up information stalls at markets and events, running events like litter picks and reuse/repair sessions, all with the aim of getting people to engage successfully with the county’s recycling scheme.
We’ve worked with a diverse mix of community groups, day centres and schools across the southeast and can tailor any activity to meet specific needs or interests.
