The Church of England Dioceses of Durham and Newcastle are delighted to launch a new two-part* course designed for both new and existing RE subject leaders to grow in confidence in their role. This course is particularly suitable for those who do not consider themselves to be RE specialists; no prior knowledge will be assumed.
Religious Education is an increasingly vital subject in today’s educational landscape. With significant potential changes on the horizon, including the possibility of RE becoming a National Curriculum subject, it is important that schools are aware of the national and local picture, and feel confident and equipped to implement any future changes.
This course seeks to equip colleagues to lead RE in their setting with greater confidence. We will cover statutory requirements and key documents to be aware of, RE curriculum development, how to support colleagues’ ongoing CPD and next steps for developing further as a subject leader. Please see the attached poster for further details.
The cost is £60+VAT per delegate for the two-part* course across the academic year.
To register for this course, please book here.
Microsoft Teams joining details will be sent to registered participants via email.
The first session will take place on Tuesday 20th October 2026, 3:45-5:15pm
*There is an additional free session specifically tailored for Church of England schools focussing on the requirements of the SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) framework.
