If you work in a school or education setting you can help the Northern Child Health and Wellbing Network understand current practices around support for children and young people (CYP) with asthma in schools. Completing our short survey will enable us to identify improvements to the lives of CYP with asthma or suspected asthma and where we need to provide further support within education settings.
Around 1.1 million children in the UK suffer from asthma. In an average class of 30 children, 2 to 3 children are likely to have been diagnosed with asthma. The NENC have significantly higher rates of admissions for asthma for young people aged 10 to 18 than the national average. Research studies suggest that asthma is responsible for up to 18% of school absences, with evidence improved asthma control improves school attendance and performance.
It should take no more than 10 minutes of your time and your feedback will be very helpful to us in understanding local practice and identify needs.
Please complete the survey on behalf of your setting by 8th November 2024 and do forward on to any parties you feel it would be relevant to.
