Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Could you be the person who makes a difference when a young person needs support?
If you work with, support or care for children and young people in your role, Youth Mental Health First Aid training can help you develop the confidence and skills to recognise when a young person may be struggling and provide appropriate support.

Funded places are available on the Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) course, delivered through the Be You Mental Health Support Team & Cygnus Support. This accredited training is suitable for professionals working with or supporting young people aged 8 to 18 and provides the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to recognise and respond to mental health concerns, including during a crisis.

The next course will take place at Seaton Valley High School across four after-school sessions 4:00-7:00:

  • Tuesday 22 September 2026
  • Tuesday 29 September 2026
  • Tuesday 6 October 2026
  • Tuesday 13 October 2026

The course covers topics including anxiety, depression, self-harm, eating disorders, psychosis and suicide awareness. Participants who attend all four sessions will receive Youth MHFA certification and access to a range of resources and ongoing support.

Places are limited, so early booking is recommended. Further courses will be available throughout 2026-27 for those unable to attend these dates.
