The Northumberland School Organisation Plan 2021-2024 and SEND Capacity and Planning Strategy 2023-2027 have been updated with refreshed data for 2024 and replace previous versions.
The School Organisation Plan provides information on the number and type of schools in the county, the Northumberland context within which schools operate in relation to school place planning, pupil forecasts by school partnership and the Council’s policy on tackling surplus place.
The SEND Capacity and Place Planning Strategy provides data and information on specialist provision and this year includes data and information on Alternative Provision on the county. Forecasts by partnership are also included of students who have an EHCP and primary need in either Autism (ASD) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) (although of course not mutually exclusive), as these continue to be the most significant areas of SEND growth. The Council’s programme for consultation on identifying ideas for increasing specialist capacity for the growing SEN population is also included.
