The Healthier Together website and mobile app is designed to help parents, carers, and professionals (including schools) make informed decisions about children’s health. Thewebsite and app can play a significant role in supporting schools and improving school attendance in the following ways:
- Provide based NHS advice to help families and schools manage children’s health effectively
- Helps parents and carers decide when children are fit for school with our should my child go to school or nursery today page
- Support staff with consistent, reliable health information (the SMS share function allows you to share pages via text message to parents and carers)
- Offers guidance for managing long-term conditions (e.g. asthma, eczema)
By making health advice accessible, reliable, and easy to act on, Healthier Together:
- Supports school attendance policies
- Reduces avoidable absences (case studies from our Healthier Together champions schools have shown parents supported to use Healthier Together have improved their child’s attendance)
- Improves communication and builds trust between parents and schools
- Promotes the overall wellbeing of pupils
Incorporating Healthier Together into the school’s attendance and health policies promotes wellbeing, consistency, and stronger partnerships between families, schools, and healthcare services
