Monday 24th November, 4-6pm, online
There has been an increase in children and young people experiencing difficulties attending education due to school-based anxiety, something that has been more apparent as a result of the Covid pandemic.
This huddle will explore examples of good practice and lessons learnt from the ‘Anxious about School’ project in County Durham which had the voice of children and families at the heart of the project. ‘Anxious about School’ prioritised a whole school approach to meet the needs of young people, parents and carers, and to upskill school staff to support the needs of their families.
The huddle will provide opportunities for discussion and reflection and consider ways in which adults as professionals can meaningfully involve children and young people in ongoing dialogue that results in change with greater outcomes for children, families and the wider services they work with.
This session has been scheduled after the end of the school day to enable teachers and other school staff to attend.
