We would like to invite expressions of interest in an exciting new fully-funded action research project for curriculum leaders in secondary Science. Building on the successes of the Linking Leaders project for primary headteachers and middle leaders, North Tyneside, Newcastle and Northumberland Local Authorities, alongside North East Combined Authority, are delighted to offer a similar project to secondary schools in the region for the first time.
Working in partnership with Newcastle Research School, we are inviting expressions of interest from two forward-thinking and ambitious STEM curriculum leaders from four schools in Northumberland (and the same from Newcastle and North Tyneside) This is a fantastic opportunity for colleagues to spend five fully-funded half days, exploring current and well-regarded educational research and reflecting on departmental challenges and aspirations. At the heart of the project is the creation of cross local authority partnerships and the opportunity to participate in peer review of school specific research questions with a school in another local authority.
This has proved to be an extremely popular and impactful professional development opportunity over the last three years amongst senior leaders in the primary sector and we are very pleased to extend this opportunity to the first secondary cohort in the region. Please see the flyer here for more information, including venue and dates.
The intention is that a curriculum lead pair (it is suggested that this be a Curriculum Leader alongside their senior leadership link, however could also be a Curriculum Leader alongside an Assistant Curriculum Leader) will be able to represent each school across the suite of sessions. However, we understand that it can sometimes be difficult for two key staff to be out of school at the same time and we are happy for you to include another appropriate member of staff to accommodate school circumstances.
If you are interested in taking part or would like to find out more about the project, please complete the short expression of interest detailed on the flyer. We are holding a short virtual information session on Monday 23rd September.
