| The National Literacy Trust’s Libraries for Primaries programme has been confirmed as the delivery partner for the government’s commitment to guarantee a library for all state primary schools in England by the end of this parliament. This is part of Every Child Can, an investment of £132.5m to improve disadvantaged young people’s access to enrichment opportunities. The Libraries for Primaries programme is fully funded and free to join, offering eligible schools an incredible package of books, resources, training and support to establish or improve a school library. The Libraries for Primaries programme is open for applications from UK state primary schools (and SEND schools with primary pupils) who not do not currently have a designated school library space and haven’t been on the Libraries for Primaries programme previously. Each school receives a package including: – 500 high-quality, diverse children’s books – Library furniture pack (modular shelving and soft seating) – Audiobook provision – Bespoke continuous professional development training for two teachers on reading for pleasure – Membership to the National Literacy Trust and access to author visits Applications are now open for the 2026/27 academic year.
