Primary schools across the United Kingdom can apply for support to enhance their outdoor environments through the Happy By Nature Fund, launched by WWF in partnership with Learning through Landscapes.
The fund aims to help schools create greener, more engaging outdoor areas that encourage pupils to connect with nature through play and learning. Projects may include greening playgrounds, establishing nature zones or improving outdoor learning spaces.
Ten grants of £10,000 each are available. The funding can be used for materials, design and construction costs associated with transforming school grounds. It is intended to support projects that integrate nature into daily school life and provide educational and environmental benefits for pupils.
Applications are open to all state-funded infant, junior and primary schools in the UK. Successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate how their proposed projects will make long-term improvements to the school environment and foster greater awareness of the natural world among pupils.
The programme forms part of WWF’s wider efforts to promote environmental education and encourage sustainable interaction with nature in school communities.
The deadline for applications is 9 November 2025.
