Dear Colleagues and Partners in Schools
Northern Powergrid is currently developing its business plans for 2028–2033. These plans include important initiatives to ensure we have a robust, resilient, and skilled workforce in place to deliver a substantial future work programme across our region.
To achieve this, we must ensure we are effectively harnessing the potential of future talent within our communities and supporting young people to access careers in the energy sector.
As part of this, we would greatly value your input and would like to invite your school to take part in a short 10–15 minute survey exploring students’ awareness of Northern Powergrid, as well as perspectives on STEM learning and inclusivity. Your insights will help shape how we engage with schools and support pathways into the energy industry.
If you would like to share your thoughts, please complete this survey by close of play 31 March 2026.

As a thank you for your time, we will donate £10 to SHINE – a UK education charity helping children – for each school within our service area that submits a completed survey, up to a total value of £5,000. To ensure the integrity and value of the data collected, please note that contributions are limited to one per school.
Northern Powergrid has commissioned an independent market research agency, Explain Research, to administer this survey. Explain Research will share your responses with Northern Powergrid once the research is complete. If you have any questions or would like to verify this approach, please contact Rachael Durrett, Stakeholder Engagement Manager at engage@northernpowergrid.com.
Thank you in advance for your time. Your contribution will help us build a stronger, more inclusive workforce for the future.
