We are delighted to inform you of the Fixed, Firm and Fluent Foundations: A Transcription Toolkit – a free, high-impact professional development programme designed to strengthen the building blocks of confident, fluent writing across the primary phase. This is aimed at schools with lower than regional/national average in expected standard in writing at KS2.
Why this matters:
National data shows that 28% of pupils do not meet the expected standard in writing at KS2. The challenge often lies not in ideas, but in transcription skills: handwriting fluency, spelling, and working memory. This programme responds directly to DfE guidance, prioritising transcription, and executive function to ensure pupils are truly ready to write.
