Best Start for Boys

Local data reveals that boys in Northumberland, especially those eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), experience poorer outcomes by the end of Reception. The Best Start for Boys programme is designed to address this challenge, supporting practitioners to reflect on and enhance their provision for boys aged 0–5. 

Best Start for Boys is a two half‑day professional learning programme tailored for all early years practitioners. The training is: 

• Evidence-informed and grounded in local data 

• Reflective and practical, with time to review and adapt your current practice 

• Directly aligned with Northumberland’s Best Start in Life (BSiL) plan
