Early Years Moderation- Formative Assessment

These sessions are designed to strengthen practitioners’ understanding and application of assessment across the EYFS. They support: 

• Accurate and consistent judgements 

• Improved reliability of EYFS Profile (EYFSP) data 

• Shared professional understanding to support transition to Year 1  

The sessions promote collaborative discussion, moderation, and reflection on best practice in line with national expectations. 

Our first session will focus on developing effective formative assessment strategies to inform teaching and learning to help practitioners: 

• deepen their understanding of formative assessment within the EYFS framework 

• explore observation, interaction, and responsive teaching 

• ensure assessment informs next steps in learning
