An offer for alliance schools
Ruth Miskin Training and Northumberland County Council are offering a discounted package to Northumberland schools that are in an alliance. The package provides reduced cost access to the school portal and development days, and reduced price resources from Oxford University Press.
Centralised training will be arranged to reduce costs to alliance schools still further.

The offer

Please note:
- The school portal and development days must be purchased together. There is no option to buy just the school portal.
- The discount on OUP resources is only available if you purchase the school portal and development days

Please note:
- The training above will be arranged centrally. Dates will be published on this page and the training calendar
- You are welcome to arrange this training for your school if you wish
Training dates
All staff who teach RWI must have attended both Speed Sounds Lessons AND Storybooks training events
To be classed as "trained":
- The headteacher and Reading Lead must have attended an Assessment Practice and Coaching (APC) training event
- All staff who teach RWI must have attended both Speed Sounds Lessons AND Storybooks training events
Further training is dependent on the needs of the school and the staff. You may wish to utilise the training that will be offered centrally (dates tbc), arrange face to face training yourself, use the training on your RWI school portal, or join training at another school.
We would advise that you keep a log of the training that the headteacher, Reading Lead and staff who teach phonics have undertaken. This can be done via your school portal, or in a separate document as you see fit.
Ruth Misking Training advise that APC, Speed Sounds Lessons and Storybooks training should be undertaken every three years.
The cost of training will depend on the number of delegates who attend.
It will be substantially cheaper than if you booked it for your school!
Additional training
One-to-one Tutoring
Progress from Sounds to Stories: Ditties and Red Storybooks
Make a Strong Start in Reception
Get to Grips with Graphemes: PSC
Focus on Fluency: Yellow, Blue and Grey Storybooks
The cost of training will depend on the number of delegates who attend.
It will be substantially cheaper than if you booked it for your school!
Oxford University Press resources
Reduced price resources are only available to alliance schools who have bought a package that includes access to the school portal and develpment days.
To purchase resources please contact:
- ashleigh.clements@oup.com (Partnership Manager)
- louis.wilkes@oup.com (Strategic Partnership Manager)
Resources cannot be ordered directly from the website at present.
Schools may choose not to buy the school portal and development days
You may decide not to purchase access to the school portal and development days. As long as your staff are trained adequately (headteacher and Reading Lead have attended APC training, and staf who teach phonics have attended Speed Sounds and Storybooks training), then that is perfectly acceptable.
However, the discount on OUP resources will not be available to you.
