School age immunisations
We will send school the link for the vaccination consent form alongside the information posters and the link to the Immunisation Team Website, where families will find all the information to help them decide if they wish to consent for their child’s vaccination.
We would be grateful if schools would send polite reminders and the consent link again to families who have not completed a consent form (or non-consent form), under our guidance (our team will send a list to schools of those children and young people whose families have not returned a form).
If you would like staff to attend parent’s evenings to share information or help with consent forms, or to do assemblies or do a presentation in classes during PHSE or health weeks, regarding the importance of vaccinations, please let the team know.
Every school will have a named nurse. Our admin team will link in with your admin to send dates of vaccination sessions and request class lists and Risk assessments of the rooms the staff will use. Your named nurses will link in with your designated immunisation team link member to help with advice and support for vaccination sessions.

ICB Be Wise Immunise campaign
The ICB Be Wise Immunise campaign has launched. The campaign information aims to develop a consistent approach across Northumberland.
This campaign is aiming to reach:
- Pregnant women
- All children aged 2 to 3 years on 31st August 2025
- School aged children – Reception to Year 11
- All children in clinical risk groups (including those with asthma) – 6 months to less than 18 years
You can view the Be Wise Immunise Flu communications toolkit, and a video explaining how the service works for all school vaccination programmes not just flu. The toolkit has resources aimed at different groups to make it more approrpriate with your setting.
The ICB would be grateful if you would share with parents/pupils/staff as you see fit.
Collecting feedback from pupils
Once pupils have received their immunisation we would be grateful if you would make time for the pupils to provide feedback on the service they have received.
The pupils we would like to repsond are the following:
- Year 8 HPV
- Year 9 for Td/IPV/MenACWY
- Middle and High school pupils for flu
The link to the feedback form is:
Thank you in advance for your support.
The government plans to launch a chickenpox vaccination programme in England from January 2026. GP practices will offer eligible children a combined vaccine for measles, mumps, rubella and varicella – the clinical term for chickenpox – as part of the routine infant vaccination schedule. Further details on eligibility will be announced in the coming months.
