This update follows on from last week’s message sent to all Educational Visits Coordinators via the Evolve system1 . The following brief summary is derived from the DfE2 , Outdoor Education Advisers Panel3 and National Youth Agency4 . All are drawn upon to inform our policy and practice.
- Non-overnight domestic educational visits can take place, with thorough risk management, but during current national restrictions travel into or out of local areas should be avoided;
- Establishments can continue to work with external providers if they are satisfied that it is safe to do so;
- Overnight and overseas visits with children under 18 are currently not allowed;
- Extra-curricular activities (such as school clubs) are allowed only if they provide registered childcare, respite care, or are necessary to support parents to work, search for work, or undertake training or education.
Further updates will be sent to the designated Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) and Head at each establishment via the Evolve system. EVC’s are advised to ensure email addresses for all staff are kept up to date in the Evolve system and that all are staff reminded to monitor their email inbox for messages from “EVOLVE”.
If there are any queries on the above, please do not hesitate to contact Nigel Chopping, Health and Safety Adviser for Educational/Offsite Visits, Corporate Health and Safety Team.
