We’re investing in the highest quality training for the teachers who will be responsible for introducing statutory relationships and health education and the optional sex education subjects (RSHE) in our schools.The Sex Education Forum believes that quality RSE education should:
- Be positively inclusive in terms of gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, culture, age, religion or belief or other life-experience ;
- Include the development of skills to support healthy and safe relationships and ensure good communication about these issues;
- Promote a critical awareness of the different attitudes and views on sex and relationships within society such as peer norms and those portrayed in the media;
- Provide opportunities for reflection in order to nurture personal values based on mutual respect and care;
The Sex Education Forum’s ‘Get Ready for Statutory’ Training usually takes place in London and costs over £200. We’ve booked the SEF to deliver this in Northumberland at a very reduced rate. Participants will work individually and in groups to explore the implications of statutory status and identify realistic, achievable goals for their school. The session will be interactive, with opportunities to trial resources and learn from colleagues. There are only 30 places available on each course.We have places still remaining for the SEND specific training at Alnwick Garden on 27.11.2019. Please sign up if you haven’t already. It is a full day and lunch is included. The cost is £25 per participant. This workshop will be suitable for primary or secondary teachers too.For secondary teachers of RSE, we have secondary-specific training on 3rd December 2019, also at Alnwick Garden and also £25 to attend.
