Last week, on Tuesday 20th June, there was a fantastic turnout of over 90 Headteachers and other education professionals gathered at The Fuse Media Centre, Prudhoe for the 2017 Northumberland County Council Headteachers’ Summer Conference.
A packed auditorium saw Andy Johnson, Interim Director of Children’s Services at Northumberland County Council, welcome those in attendance, and introduce a short presentation which highlighted potential usage of the Apprenticeship levy.
Workshops throughout the day were tailored to the headteacher’s requirements and covered areas as diverse as the Primary Assessment and Progress, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, key developments in Numeracy and Literacy, support for Vulnerable Learners and Preparing for Ofsted.
A final keynote address highlighted some of the challenges facing schools in Northumberland, and how the Council can support schools in meeting these challenges.
The event provided headteachers with the perfect opportunity to share ideas and best practice.
Of course good communication is an essential element of any partnership and all schools are encouraged to take part in Northumberland’s 2017 School Survey, this is available at :
https://tinyurl.com/NCCschoolsurvey2017. It only takes a couple of minutes to complete and covers important areas such as Safeguarding, Early Years and SEND.
