Could you help to inspire a new generation of Northumbria recruits?
The force has now opened the 2018 Police Cadet recruitment programme, and is looking for young people in year 10 to join. Northumbria’s Cadet scheme is hugely successful with hundreds of young people already involved in the three year programme.
Northumbria Cadets play a vital role in helping us to engage with our communities and promote policing among other young people. The scheme sees them develop a whole host of new skills and opens them up to new life experiences. Cadets meet once a week during school term time to take part in activities, and as an accredited Duke of Edinburgh provider Cadets can work towards their Bronze Award with the potential to progress to Silver.
Recruitment for the next intake of Volunteer Police Cadets is now open, with applications being received until 31st October. Anyone in school year 10 can apply with successful candidates starting in January 2018.
How you can help
Whilst a force-wide marketing campaign is now underway, there is a crucial role for staff and officers – particularly those in community engagement roles – to play in promoting this opportunity. Please consider and take every chance to tell young people – in schools, youth groups, and individuals you identify – about the Cadet scheme and the advantages it offers.
