British Cycling – Places to Ride Programme

Find out more about the Places to Ride funding opportunity from British Cycling which is open to schools and community organisations. There is more information on the British Cycling website about applying for funding through the programme, alongside some guidance of things to think about before you apply, remember, the programme is open until January 2021 and:

  • You can apply anytime over the next couple of years
  • You can request from £1,000 up to £50,000, but we expect the average request to be much lower
  • You apply through an online application via the British Cycling website:
  • The initial application is short and simple to complete. If your project is supported, you will progress to a second stage where we will ask for more information and supporting documents about your specific project and organisation
  • You will receive a decision within approximately 12 weeks of submission
  • We want to fund as many projects as possible. Therefore, every organisation will need to provide some partnership funding. We recommend that this should ideally be 50% and no lower than 25%, although applications with less partnership funding than this will still be considered
  • If you have any questions you can contact us at
  • There is also an Equipment Package which schools can apply for

Please also see the attached documents and if you are considering applying to the fund please contact Lorna Bennett, North East Cycling Delivery Manager to discuss your project in more detail before submission.
