Music Partnership North Coronavirus Update – Information for schools (Updated March 20th 2020)

Current situation

Since the announcement that schools will close to many students this afternoon, we have been working hard to find the best way to keep childrens’ musical learning going. We have been in conversation with other music services and music hubs in the north east and across the country. We are all working hard to find the best solution going forward.

A Temporary Fix

As a stop-gap, we are asking our tutors to put together instructions for each small-group or individual instrumental lesson that would have normally been delivered in the remaining weeks this term. We are asking them to forward this information to you and we would be very grateful if this could then be made accessible to parents and children – through School 360, or whatever virtual platforms you are using. At its most basic, these details could simply be emailed to parents for the time being. Please let us and our tutors know how best to get this information to you – which email address is best for your school? Contact us here.

Next Week

We will be in contact with schools to see which sites are still open to some students and investigate the feasibility of school-based lessons going ahead, and whether or not some in-person lessons may go ahead or whether these might be delivered using remote learning technology.

Next Term

We are now investigating options for remote learning. We are keenly aware of safeguarding concerns and will ensure that all possible steps are taken to protect both children and staff alike.

MPN Office Team

Our admin and management team are currently working remotely rather than at the office. Calls to our usual office landlines are being redirected to work mobile phones and we can also be contacted via email as usual. Contact details for the team can be found here.
