This year, the whole of LGBT+ History Month has been dedicated to Lyra McKee, the journalist and LGBT+ activist who was shot dead during rioting in Northern Ireland in 2019. There is an excellent new resource (to buy or download) from The Proud Trust.
The theme this year is Poetry, Prose and Plays.
There are some really useful activities to use in school at any time to help understand and use the terminology of LGBT+ identities, activities such as ‘Whose job is it to create an inclusive school environment?’ and a creative writing activity based on Lyra McKee’s letter to her younger self.
The whole resource is an excellent, free example of a resource that can be used to make the curriculum more LGBT inclusive and develop creativity and compassion as well as understanding and respect.
