You may be aware of the government plans that all public sector bodies with over 250 staff will be required to report on differences in salaries between the genders.
These are still in their draft stage but likely to be passed before long.
As part of the initial proposal, it was deemed that Local Authorities would include staff from their maintained schools within the report.
Following some concerns regarding how this would operate in practice, the government have amended the proposal so that an employee of a local authority in a maintained school will be treated as an employee of the governing body of that school.
As such, and because no school in Northumberland has over 250 employees, schools will not be covered in the pay gap report compiled by the Council and nor will they be required to produce their own.
