Dear Colleagues
Additional 30 hour places released – Great news DfE confirmed late last week that we could fund more places! Emails have been sent to all parents (150) who were on the waiting list from the last round of applications offering them a place. Please note no new applications are being accepted!
Funded Entitlement Operational guidance – the operational guidance builds on the recently published statutory guidance and model agreement. We hope that you find this helpful in delivering the offer in your area, and in supporting your providers. The guidance can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/30-hours-free-childcare-la-and-early-years-provider-guide
Childcare Service 30 hour applications for September – the online eligibility checking system has now gone live for parents with children up to the age of 4. This means that parents wishing to access tax free childcare and/or the 30 hours free childcare entitlement from September, will now be able to apply using the system. Here is a link to the online Childcare Service: https://childcare-support.tax.service.gov.uk/par/app/applynow
Understanding 30 Hours eligibility, validating codes and grace periods etc – please see guidance/briefing attached. We will also be holding briefing events in early June and will send out a flyer with more information in next week’s update!
Prevent Duty – Are you compliant – Free Workshop in May
From 1 July 2015 all schools, registered early years childcare providers and registered later years childcare providers are subject to a duty under section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. This duty is known as the Prevent duty.
Schools and childcare providers are already responsible for keeping children safe, however the Prevent duty reinforces these existing responsibilities in respect of radicalisation of children.
We are running a one hour FREE WRAP workshop specifically for Early Years PVI settings.
Date: Monday 15th May
Time: 9:30 am – 10:30 am
Venue: County Hall, Morpeth (in the Belsay Room)
Please contact Lesley Kelly lelsley.kelly@northumberland.gov.uk in order to book a place
