Your Early Years Inclusion Consultants Pauline and Amy are running another inclusion drop-in session. This is an opportunity for you to ask us any ‘general’ questions relating to SEND and Inclusion – please note, this is not an opportunity to discuss individual children.
This will be done virtually on Wednesday 27th March between 3.30 and 7pm.

Please use this form to let us know you are coming.

Financial Incentive Pilot Scheme and Business Support

From April, the UK will see the start of the biggest expansion to childcare support that the country has ever seen. In response to this rapid expansion, the emerging needs of parents and the business strength required across the childcare workforce, we have been running an Early Years Business Forum for the past year and a strong recruitment and retention campaign over the last few months, which encompasses a Safer Recruitment Toolkit (details below).

To further support this ambitious agenda and our drive to meet the diverse needs of our rural county, Northumberland has been selected as one of 20 LA’s across the UK to participate in the government financial incentive grant pilot to help incentivise the recruitment of our early years workforce. Full information on how to apply and support available in attachment.

STEM in Early Years

Last year we shared a link to a range of EYFS NUSTEM resources developed by Melanie Horam, which some of our providers tested out in Autumn 2023 (https://nustem.uk/eyfs/).

Melanie is working on a new pharmacist unit which will be based primarily on maths activities in the EYFS. If you would like to contribute or find out more, Melanie will be holding a Teams meeting on

  • Day: Wednesday
  • Date:  1st May
  • Time:  6pm

Here you can discuss possible activities and to see how NUSTEM can support you with STEM in your setting.
