In the final batch of summaries for 2019 there is some Christmas cheer to be found in this month’s reports. The PISA 2018 report for England shows a marked improvement in the UK’s position relative to comparator countries across a number of areas including reading. The annual bullying survey from the charity Ditch the Label reveals open and tolerant attitudes held by young people in England.
There is also a note of cautious optimism to be found in the NfER’s report on providers’ preparedness for the new T levels. Other areas covered in this month’s summaries include teacher wellbeing, student mental health and the impact of GCSE reforms on the attainment gap.
