Please find attached a Public Health England briefing for Headteachers to promote awareness of the vaccination programme over the summer break from GP Practices.
Following a review of evidence, now that the Newborn Hearing Screening is fully established within Northumberland, we will no longer be offering routine hearing screening at reception age. Each year group on average screens 3000 children and last year 9 children were referred for specialist treatment. Please note any individual child suspected of having hearing loss will still be referred to specialist services as is the current arrangement.
The Health Visiting teams will be alerting families of this change however as part of the transition please can you circulate the attached letter to parents of children starting reception in September 2017. This is a guide to inform them of what to observe for and what action to take if they suspect any problems with their child. Please also advise staff of these changes.
The intention is to continue eye screening for all children of reception age with current service provider
