For the attention of: All maintained schools and academies
There have been a number of articles appearing in the press over the last week about teachers pay quoting a higher than expected figure “in the region of 3.5%” as the recommendation of the School Teachers Review Body (STRB). Until there is an announcement from the Department for Education it is difficult to provide any commentary/advice on this.
The Local Government Association has not been notified of when any announcement will be made. There are clearly implications for schools should such a figure (if correct) be accepted in full or in part or indeed if rejected.
Once the announcement is made by the DfE the Schools HR team will finalise the model Pay Policy for 2018/19 and consult with the relevant trade unions. Following this the policy and associated guidance will be provided to those school’s subscribing to NCC’s HR service level agreement. HR briefings will be scheduled in the first half of the autumn term which will cover the pay award and any other changes to the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document as well as provide key HR updates for school leaders.
