Schools will be aware that a large SENCO conference is taking place at the Holiday Inn, Seaton Burn on Friday 6th July ’18 at which the developments relating to paperwork and processes around the promotion of the Graduated Approach to meeting SEND, and the Northumberland High Needs Pathway will be presented.
Work on the development of revised EHCP processes and associated paperwork has been ongoing with working groups of interested parties since January and the start date for implementation of the new guidelines is 1st September 2018.
All schools have been invited to attend the conference, but have unfortunately only been allocated one place due to space restrictions.
A series of briefings are being offered in the week beginning Monday 9th July ’18 in order to present the key points to professionals unable to attend the conference. This can include Headteachers, Early Years practitioners, SEND Support Service staff, social care colleagues and second or assistant SENCos in schools. Please note that sessions for school Governors will be planned for the Autumn Term. Health colleagues are invited specifically to attend one event.
Briefings will run for an hour and be offered in Alnwick (10th July), Choppington (11th July) and Hexham (12th July).
There are further details on the booking form which can be accessed here:
Places will be available on a first come, first served basis, with some venues being smaller than others. If any fill up quickly, a further session will be organised but this is unlikely to happen until the start of the new academic year.
