Dear Headteachers and Senior Leaders,
As you will be aware, as a Local Authority, we have SEND as a high priority and have a focus on supporting our schools to further improve their inclusive practice. We have close and regular contact with our SENCos and have delivered training and support to them regularly throughout the year. However, it is acknowledged that the SENCo is not the only person within a school who has a responsibility around SEND and with this in mind there has also been training provided for NQTs, ITT, Class teachers and SEN Governors. Headteachers have been kept up to date through termly briefings.
One of the training sessions we have produced is aimed at Class teachers and reminding them of their responsibilities for learners with SEND as well as helping them to consider strategies and support that they can offer through Quality First Teaching practices. Discussions over the past year with people involved at all levels in schools led us to create this package which can be delivered to school staff in a 30-40 minute session. It is hopefully self explanatory and could likely be delivered by yourselves to serve as a refresher for your staff. We are hoping that the vast majority if not all of our Heads might be able to allocate a staff meeting in which to deliver the session. We would be really grateful if you could afford the time to provide us with some feedback on the session (even just one sentence) once you have had the opportunity to look over it and/or share it with your staff teams.
Access to the training presentation is via this link if you have any issues access or using the google presentation, please contact us and we can send you a powerpoint version.
