Northumberland County Council’s Energy Team have just received an important update from Wave Utilities who supply the water to our sites, please see below information from Wave for your reference:-
In the Northumbrian Water region Wave Utilities (NWL Business) we have had a recent case where a primary school has had a substantial leak on their private supply. This has resulted in bills to the value of £100,000. If the non return to sewer allowance is successful it will still result in bills for around £50,000. Obviously that is an enormous amount of money for a school or authority to have to try and find, particularly in these testing financial times.
To try and prevent similar cases in future, we have had the attached PDF put together. It contains advice on carrying out leak tests.
If you are currently part of the Schools Energy SLA and have any queries or concerns regarding the above please do not hesitate to contact Martin or Kelly in Energy Team on 01670 622317.
