The Equalities Team Traveller Education Service is hosting The Friends Families and Travellers travelling Theatre Company, and their Play Crystals Vardo at the Phoenix Theatre in Blyth on the Friday 23rd June. This play is aimed at ages 8-13. It aims to raise awareness of Gypsy and Traveller issues and in turn help tackle some of the problems of racist bullying in schools and elsewhere.
Each school that attends will receive a resource pack with follow up workshops and discussions run by Ian Luke (Traveller Education Family Liaison Officer). For the younger children I will arrange storytelling sessions based around PSHE, literacy and drama using the resources from David Johnstone and his Young Traveller Character Jimmy. For the older children there is a drama scheme of work about what happened to Johnny Delaney an Irish Traveller who lost his life through racist bullying.
The Play will start at 1:30pm at the Phoenix Theatre and the duration is 1 hour, and concludes with a discussion at the end of the play. The cost for each child is £4:00.
Could any interest be forwarded to Ian Luke as well as numbers you would like to book. There is no maximum or minimum of seats per booking.
