Sunderland University are looking for Northumberland schools to host PGCE students next academic year:
“Our wide range of Secondary PGCE courses will qualify trainees to teach at Secondary level in any state-maintained school in England and Wales.
This one year course blends theoretical knowledge with carefully supervised teaching experience. Trainees will attend placements in a variety of educational settings, to gain a broad understanding of the realities of Secondary level teaching.
In responding to the needs identified by partners and the regional drivers for teacher recruitment we are excited to announce that we are bringing two new secondary subjects into our on campus based provision. Already recruiting for a September 2019 we have introduced Religious Education (RE) and History. These combine with the specialist PE Apprenticeship route to provide a suite of ten secondary subjects at Post Graduate Level (PGCE); Computer Science, English, Geography, Mathematics, Science with Biology, Science with Physics, Science with Chemistry, History, RE and PE.
This placement provides trainees with a placement in two schools and builds on the success of this placement in 2018-19. This model maintains the increased preparation time Trainees spend in their schools before their assessed period and for 2019-20 it also benefits from a slightly later start date in the Autumn term to fully ensure trainees are ready for their school based focus weeks.”
The RE PGCE is a new course and offers schools a new opportunity to host students in this subject. Schools will receive £500 per trainee per placement.
