The Royal Grammar School in Newcastle have approached Northumberland as an area in which they would like to provide support to schools. Some of the schools in the county are already involved but RGS would like to see this expanded in terms of breadth and depth.
Examples of what might be possible are:
- Offers to RGS parents to ask if they would be governors at Northumberland schools
- Specialist teaching e.g classics, or the provision of DT kits and associated lesson plans
- Oxbridge interview practice, attendance at lectures, involvement in battle of the bands
- Challenge in Maths, hockey coaches, senior students acting as coaches to younger pupils
In the first instance we would like to collect together a more comprehensive list of possibilities that the LA can take back to the leadership at RGS for further discussion.
Please e-mail your suggestions to dave.cookson@northumberland.
Do also include examples of where your school could provide some support to RGS! This a two way process wherever possible…
