We would like to take this opportunity to draw to your attention forthcoming sessions that are now open for booking via Learning Together. The attached flyers provide further details and information on how to book a place.
Please note that the sessions are available to all schools and academies. Sessions are at no extra charge to schools subscribing to the enhanced HR SLA. Supplementary charges apply to schools subscribing to the standard HR SLA at a discounted rate. Schools not subscribing to the SLA can also access this provision at a cost of £75 per person. Please note that if the session is oversubscribed schools purchasing the HR SLA at the enhanced level will be given priority.

Conducting Effective Investigations – Friday 17 November (Central) Tuesday 21 November (North)
ACAS strongly recommends that any Investigating Officer has undergone formal training in undertaking investigations. Develop your skills and confidence in conducting investigatory interviews, writing an effective investigation report and prepare yourself for attendance at formal hearings.
Fundamentals of HR – Wednesday 29 November (North), Friday 1 December (West), Wednesday 6 December (Central)

The session is targeted at new and aspiring headteachers, school business managers and governors and is an excellent opportunity to gain an understanding of people management principles as applied in a school context. The session covers the employment life cycle from recruitment & selection processes, through appraisal, management of disciplinary and grievance matters, sickness absence management and school staffing restructures, through to resignation or dismissal.
Successful Management Sickness Absence
Managing sickness absence proactively can have a significant impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of your school.
The session will cover sickness reporting and monitoring, referral to Occupational Health, identifying and managing absence triggers, stress prevention and management, early intervention, equality issues and when and how to commence a formal absence management investigation.
