Schools are invited to express an interest in participating in Local Democracy Week later this year. We will be running events from Monday 14 – Friday 18 October 2019.
We will hold some events at County Hall, but are also happy to visit schools to deliver activities if you would be able to host us. These events are aimed at students from Year Seven upwards to participate. We intend to run sessions of up to a maximum of two hours, which will include interactive workshops followed by a question time with councillors. Sessions can be adapted to meet your requirements, such as fitting the activities around your timetables. Please contact Mike Bird on democraticservices@
These events will be jointly organised by the County Council’s Youth Service and Democratic Services. If you have any queries about the events that you would like to discuss in the meantime, please contact Andrew Elliott, Youth Participation Worker, on telephone 01670 620326 / Andrew.Elliott@northumberland.
Alternatively, if you would like to speak to your local county councillor or town/parish council about inviting them to attend any events at your schools, please do not hesitate to let us know.
