This coincides with Amnesty International’s annual Write for Rights Campaign which encourages people in 2018 to stand up for women who have done extraordinary things to protect human rights around the world by writing letters of solidarity or by campaigning to their leaders.
There is a booklet to download on the Amnesty website. Go to amnesty.org.uk/write for the latest information on Write for Rights 2018. You can download pdf versions of the printed materials and additional resources. The campaign runs until 31st December 2018.
On the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights an event at Newcastle Civic Centre brings together human rights campaigns and issues that have impacted communities locally over the past year, and discusses how we work together for human rights in 2019.
The Declaration was adopted by nations on 10th December 1948 in the aftermath of the Second World War, to ensure the evils of the Holocaust could not be repeated. Free tickets to the event are available through Eventbrite.
