Clean Air Day is on the 20th June and we are encouraging schools to sign up to raise awareness of Climate Change and air pollution issues and the small actions we can take ourselves.
Schools and organisations across the UK are planning events on 20 June, you can see the type of activities they are delivering here; https://www.cleanairday.
If your school would like to get involved let me know at Tracy.Aitken@northumberland.gov.uk
As an incentive to take part we are offering a prize of £200 of National Garden Centre vouchers, to enter just tell us what you did during the week, who was involved and how it was a success and include a couple of photos of your event, if you could email that to me by the 28th June.
You could use the prize towards the cost of a living wall or vertical garden, these are becoming more popular on the exterior of buildings as the plants can filter particulate matter from the air and convert carbon dioxide into oxygen improving air quality, they also look fabulous and are a reminder that we all need to be aware of the effects of pollution.
